Kawah Ijen - Indonesia's Most Beautiful Volcano

The turquoise-green acidic lake at the volcano's crater is one kilometer wide and contains 36 million cubic meters of water. The stunning hue is created by hydrogen chlorine gas discharged into the water, which results in extremely concentrated hydrochloric acid with a pH of about 0.

The greatest time of day to experience this beautiful journey is at night, when you can witness the dawn from the summit of the volcano. The fact that the blue fire is no longer visible as soon as the first sunray touches the sky is the key reason why most guests choose to attend the sunrise tour. The trek itself takes roughly an hour to reach the top. If you want to witness the blue fire, you must descend for another 30 minutes to the crater.
