Jogjakarta : geographies and specialties

Jogjakarta stretched from Mount Merapi's slopes in the north to Indian Ocean's beaches in the south. Here,  located one big kingdom in monarchy time in Java, Mataram royal kingdom, or today well-known as Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat. Mainly, Jogjakarta is lowland from the west to the east which has a slope less than a degree and it quit fertile to be planted various crops because it near the most active volcanoes in Central Java; Mount Merapi. It has three main rivers; Gajah Wong Rivers in the East-side, Code Rivers in the center and Winongo Rivers in the West-side.

Jogjakarta owns a thousand names; It was adhered a bunch of it specialties so no wonder it has many nicknames. Jogja's name spelling has various ways e.g, Jogja,  Jogjakarta, Yogya or even sometime written Djokdja. The elderly spelled Ngajogja, the eastern Javanese and commonly Javanese spelled Yogja or Yojo. Locals called it the student cities  because a lot of universities were stated here; the other called it the bicycle city because the city is bikers friendly completed with special line for bicycling. But do not confuse about it, just type and browse Jogja then you would find any information about it on the internet.




The existences of Keraton (Royal palace of) Yogyakarta and Pakualamanmade it become the center of the most precious Java culture heritages that attracted visitors from all over the world to enjoy it authentic exotica. Mostly during holiday, Jogjakarta would be crowded by visitors both from local Indonesian and foreigners.
And that's not the only attraction of Jogjakarta, it citizen is also unique, they could blend and harmonize their ancient lifestyle with the modern life yet they were known as the most polite people like mostly Javanese manners, you could see it by yourself while you got here (. You could taste it original culinary that you could not find in any places either in Indonesia, enjoy it art market; batik, art painting, sculpture, handicraft, leather craft, antiques, etc. you name it… indeed you could meet the artist itself, watch or learn the art making processes or you could buy it as souvenir and resell it if your colleagues fond of it (That's why Indonesian government stated it as the special province of Jogjakarta; whether it smallest areas among other provinces. So if you were a culture admirers, taste connoisseurs, art lovers then consider by yourself to have fun here in the special region of Jogjakarta.
